Xiaoqing Ding

Xiaoqing Ding is originally from Beijing, China, and is currently based in New York. With eight years of traditional Asian Arts training and exposure to American culture in more recent years, her artwork is a captivating mixture of old world technique and modern subject matter. Working with egg tempera, silverpoint, oil and pastel, her imagery explores the nature of sexuality, identity and personal politics. Ding references symbolism from her Chinese heritage, combined with influences such as Greek mythology, European fairytale and Medieval studies. The resulting body of work is a fusion of mysterious narratives which focus on timeless sentiments and personal struggles between good and evil.
